Lost in the Land of 1000 Mirrors by Shastro Lost in the Land of 1000 Mirrors by Shastro
Funny thing is there's only about 8 mirrors. There is quite a few problems with it (hair looks weird in some of the reflections and she's halfway floating off the ground) but the focus of this image was to get some practice making hair as to be ready for some new plans...

Made with Blender

Render Information
-Took 9 hours to render at 5000 samples on i7

STAY AWESOME!

Wow that hair. Kinda looks like a custom model w/ photography!  The hard part I see with them ponies is getting the right material for their coat/skin (depending unpon which approach you deicde) to complete the realism.

Yeah it depends on where I take it for an upcoming project I might decide to complete the realism, but adding a thin coat is something that is hard to pull of and even harder to make look good, but entirely possible, might even add an eyesystem like this: cgcookie.com/blender/cgc-cours…

Thank You! Its a pretty basic hair shader its just mixing two hair bsdf nodes one with reflection the other with (transmission I think) with the hair info node "intercept" as the mix factor between the two. I really want to learn how to make hair like this though: cgcookie.com/blender/2014/04/2…

Ahh just need a citizen membership, so much knowledge to absorb!

Impeccable hair shader!!

Also have you tried branched ray tracing? I think you could reduce certain passes like you could drop volume samples as I take it there are none in the render. Use lower pass values (single digits) and raise the AA up to whatever is needed.

Party on dude!

No I have not, and I have yet to experiment with render passes, but I know things such as ambient occlusion passes and what not can be very usefull, but for now im focused on helping with vinyl darkscratch's SFM animation, they say they can transfer the hair I make into sfm (have no idea how) but it should be fun!

Thanks again for the comment and STAY AWESOME!
